The Mystery of Loch Ness

No visit to Inverness should exclude a trip to Loch Ness by far the most famous loch in the World. It is said to be home to Nessie, a monstrous creature first sighted by St Columba in the 6th Century. Photographs taken in the 1930s have made Nessie famous world-wide. Visitors wishing to learn more should make the trip to Drumnadrochit. Here you can choose between two Loch Ness Monster exhibitions, both open daily all year but with more restricted hours in winter.

Dolphin Spotting

Why not spend a day taking a boat trip on the Moray Firth, renowned for its marine life and mammal spotting opportunities. Departing from Inverness harbour out onto the Moray Firth where you have the best chance of seeing the most northerly group of bottlenose dolphins in the world plus common seals, grey seals and porpoise. In the moray firth there is a lot of bird life such as terns, gannets, fulmers, razorbills, kittiwakes, red kites, ospreys, and a variety of wadding birds on the shoreline mud flats and Munlochy Bay which is the R.S.P.B. sanctuary.

The Malt Whisky Trail

From Benromach to Dallas Dhu, a perfect time capsule of whisky-making; from Glen Moray to Strathisla, home and heart of Chivas Regal; from the Glen Grant distillery to the Speyside Cooperage where real coopers work with incredible speed and skill; from Glenfiddich to The Glenlivet and the Cardhu distillery, Scotland’s whisky trail signposts lead you through the picturesque lush countryside of Speyside, the world’s favourite malt whisky region.
